Since April 2018, GERES is implementing a project aiming at demonstrating the technical and economic feasibility of, and creating the conditions for, a switch to sustainable biomass fuels for Cambodian garment factories while opening the way for sustainable steam production through other advanced renewable energy solutions.
The activities of the project are the following:
Activity 1: Assessing technical characteristics of the boilers used by garment suppliers and identifying the different options for sustainable steam production
Activity 2: Measuring the performance of the different alternative biomass fuels
Activity 3: Providing technical assistance and tools to rice millers to engage in the production and sale of Rice Husk Briquettes
Activity 4: Triggering commercial agreements between RHB suppliers and garment factories
GERES is looking for a Biomass Densification Technology Expert to implement the activity in collaboration with GERES Team. His/her objectives will be to identify a selection of rice husk briquetting technologies that are the best suited for Cambodian rice millers and develop tools to support the rice millers in the investment into rice husk briquetting.
More precisely, the consultant is expected to:
*Draw a list of criteria and create an evaluation tool for briquetting technologies, in collaboration with GERES and Rice Millers
*Benchmark technologies available in the region
*Draw a list if technologies and suppliers suitable for Cambodian rice millers willing to invest in Rice Husk Briquettes production and provide recommendations regarding operation and maintenance
*Create a tool to allow rice millers to assess the profitability of an investment in rice husk briquetting.
*Build the capacity of GERES teams on briquetting technologies, which will allow GERES to provide technical assistance to rice millers in the next stages of the project.
Taking into account the results from this activity, GERES, with the support of the expert, will develop an informative and promotional brochure aimed at rice millers to support in the investment decision.
